Newport, Rhode Island has become a noteworthy destination for wedding ceremonies because of its historical landmarks, stunning sites and unbeatable ocean views. Often referred to as the “City-by-the-Sea,” Newport is home to one of the prettiest harbors in the United States and is the sailing capital of the world!
As usual… we’ve been busy! It’s been a fantastic summer and fall has brought with it some of the best weather we’ve seen in years. The sailing has been great and we’re looking forward to the Volvo Ocean Race here in Newport next spring. Fall sunsets are the best and we thought we’d share a few of them with you here. We are sailing on Aquidneck through Tuesday, October 28th. Sunny, crisp days in October are a great time to come out on the water so get your sailing fix in before we shutter for the winter months!
Late summer days in Rhode Island don’t often bring the gale force winds we get in Spring, which makes for pretty gentle conditions out on the water and very enjoyable sailing. While it may not be ideal for regatta organizers or kite surfers, our customers have been loving the light, steady breezes. Here are a few things light summer winds are perfect for:
We see a lot of interesting things on the water – some big, some small. Here’s the mighty schooner Atlantic, one of the biggest vessels to grace Newport harbor this season, returning to town. And here’s little 7 year old Ava on a private sailing charter, one of our younger sailors and potential future captains…
The weather in June and July has so far been great, and as usual we’ve taken a lot of people sailing and hosted a large number of private parties. The great thing about Newport Harbor is that no matter what the day or what time of day, there’s always something going on out on the water. And that’s one of the reasons that sailing is often the highlight of many people’s visits here!
Here are a few photos from the past couple of weeks… enjoy!
