Day Sails

Early to late afternoon day sails tend to offer the best breezes of the day.  Newport’s prevailing Southwesterly sea breeze tends to be light in the morning and build from late morning through the afternoon.

This occurs so regularly that locals often keep time by it and is one of many reasons why Newport is such a great place to sail.

We offer daysails aboard Aquidneck, Sightsailer and Starlight.  A Dark and Stormy Cocktail Cruise is offered on select weekdays aboard Aquidneck.  See our Book Online Calendar for specific dates.

On all of our boats, guests are welcome to help raise sail, take the wheel and sail or relax and enjoy the sights.  No sailing experience is required.

Enjoy the scenery as we sail you through Newport Harbor, into Narragansett Bay, and along the shoreline of Newport’s picturesque Ocean Drive.

You’ll get great views of the Pell Bridge, Fort Adams, Clingstone, Hammersmith Farm, and the legendary coastline of Narragansett Bay. Vintage America’s Cup boats, lighthouses, superyachts, and weekly races are common sights.

Our captains and crew know the history of the sights and will point out the highlights with light, informal commentary.  No two trips are exactly alike since the wind and tide vary daily and we try to sail as much as possible.

Since we sail in protected waters, the sailing is very smooth. Queasiness, even for our most apprehensive guests, is never an issue!

Whether you’ve never set foot on a sailboat, or are an old salt, Sightsailing’s Day Sails in Newport are legendary, enjoyable, and fun for all!  See Newport.  Sail Newport.

We strongly recommend Booking Online in advance. Sails regularly sell out.
